Why Paleo?

Hey y'all! I'm very excited to start my first blog. I decided to do this, because I have noticed that the some of the other Paleo blogs that I read (and adore) target an audience of "die-hards" and sometimes have recipes with prep times and ingredient lists that are just down right unrealistic for today's every day life. Which usually leaves people defeated and running right back to their sandwiches and diet drinks. Even as a full-time college student with two jobs, I've been committed to the Paleo lifestyle for about a year now, and it has changed my life tremendously. I want to show everyone how easy and delicious it can be!

For those new to this entire subject, the Paleo diet is what our bodies are intended to be fed. It's a diet based on whole, natural and most importantly REAL food. Which means meat, veggies, fruit, nuts and other good fats. Which also means nothing that has been processed, enriched, fortified, sucked of fat, sweetened or any other nonsense. If you can't pronounce it, you definitely shouldn't eat it.

We all want to change our eating habits for different reasons. Whether it's for weight loss, sustainable energy, lower blood pressure or lower cholesterol; this is the diet for you. Or if it's physical conditions such as IBS, constipation, eczema, fatigue, joint paint, or headaches; this is still the diet for you. Actually, I don't like even calling this a "diet". That reminds me of something like "10 days to a Bikini Body Diet"or some other short period of time where you feel hungry, deprived and unsatisfied in desperate attempts to lose weight; right before you gain it right back. That's exactly what Paleo isn't!

To break it down a little further:

I'm a firm believer in the majority of today's health problems (heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc.) being preventable, or at least less common, as a result of clean eating and physical activity. I largely believe this, because I've seen the changes occur first-hand, among myself and other dedicated individuals. So, if you're feeling a little off lately, or just looking for something that works more long-term, I really urge you to try this, at least for a month! So get ready for some delicious recipes, epic cheat day posts and (for the total of 5 people who will find it interesting) other ramblings of food biochemistry and metabolic processes!
